Easy oyster fishing in Sogndalsdalen
Dalavatnet and Anestølsvatnet are two good and easily accessible fishing lakes in Sogndalsdalen. A perfect summer activity for the whole family. Buy a fishing license, wear a life jacket, find a suitable spot and close up.
Nor is there anything to say about the price of fishing licenses:
Day pass kr. 100,- Weekly pass kr. 200,- 3-way card kr. 300,- Annual pass 450,-
The two lakes belong to the same landowner association. And you must have a valid fishing license. You can buy a fishing license at both sports shops in Sogndal and at the MIX kiosk. There are fishing license vending machines at Vatnasete, UTEplassen and Vassenden.
Last but not least, you can buy cards via VIPPS Nr: 519321
When driving through the Sogndalsdalen valley, you can't help but notice Dala lake. It's about 6.5 kilometers from where Selsengelvi flows into the lake to Hodlekvebrui, where the Dala lake turns into Dalaelvi. Dalavatnet is surrounded by roads, Riksveg 5 on one side and "Gamle Dalavegen" (FV211) on the other.
Both Dalavatnet and Anestølsvatnet, which lie past Selseng, are good fishing lakes. Both lakes have been cultivated in recent years, with the result that the fish are now starting to grow large.
Farmer and manager of Dalavatnet Fiskekort Johannes Gunvordal says that there are good facilities for fishing in both lakes.
- Since there is a road around the whole of Dalavatnet, there is good access in many places. It's mostly so you can fish out the windshield of your car in some places. For example, down at Vatnasete it's very beautiful. It's an area that the toughest people can swim from, even on a summer's day. By tough, I mean it's meltwater so the temperature is relatively low. But it's great for swimming, and not least, great for fishing.
- Otherwise, I can mention that there is easy access and good conditions at both ends of the river. The only thing you have to consider is cultivated land. You must not go there without first talking to the landowner. The same applies to parking. In many places there are good conditions for parking a car. But you have to ask for advice if you're going onto private property, and of course you mustn't block the road. Otherwise, all you have to do is buy a fishing license and hope for the best. The fish are there, and many of us have caught kilo fish.
But that's how it is with farmers and landowners, they don't mention the best places, whether it's clay bogs, hunting grounds or fishing spots.
- There is good access everywhere, especially at Dalavatnet. At the UTE site you can also rent boats and fishing equipment. There is a toll road at Anestølsvatnet, but the road is nice and has several hiking trails along the lake. Throughout the summer, the goats graze along Anestølsvatnet. There's a nice, clear shoreline here, making it perfect for fishing with Oterfjøl.
- Anestølsvatnet is a little colder and the fish are a little smaller than in Dalavatnet, but there are opportunities for big fish here too. Selsengelvi has many great fishing spots all along the way. So the Sogndalsdalen valley is a veritable eldorado for fishing.
Everyone is welcome to use the area. It's easy to forget how good it is to be so close and simple. You don't have to travel far to the mountains. Perfect family fun. Quick and easy, all year round.
Last question. What do the fish in Sogndalsdalen like?
- A good old silver hook, it has pulled up big beasts from deep water. But now I can't say any more. We must have some secrets. But they are welcome," says the farmer in Gunvordal.
