Ski touring

All trips and activities outside groomed trails are at your own risk. We encourage you to plan your trip carefully. Safe travel. Good planning.

Use varsom.no in your trip planning. If you are new to the area or if Ski touring is new to you, we recommend that you use a guide and take an avalanche course.

We can recommend the following companies that have a high level of expertise in this: Explore Sogndal, Breogfjell and Norgesguidene.

  • Blåfjellet - straight from the lift

Take the elevator to the top. From there, a steady climb along a marked trail to Vardafjellet. From here there are no markings, but you can follow the ridge all the way up to Kambafjellet. Then there is a gentle climb along a wide ridge up towards the cairn.

Downwards: From here, follow the ridge facing south, towards Britastein/Britabu.
Then follow the valley (Stilledalen) or the marked trail from Høgehaug down to Hodlekve.

Time: The trip takes about 3 hours on good roads.
    Ascent: approx. 600m

The opposite road is also fine, but then you get an extra climb of about 350m.

  • Togga

Togga is a relatively quick and beautiful summit tour - on a nice day with stable snow conditions.

Park at the Brandhaugadn summit parking lot. From the parking lot, follow the trail through the forest and along the ridge - all the way up to the cairn at Togga.

Be careful: Togga can be capricious when the snow is unstable.

  • Frudalen

Starting at Frudalen summit parking lot, there are several nice Ski touring in the valley.

For more info: see the book "Toppturer i Sogn". Can be purchased in the SIL cabin. There you will find many nice hikes in Sogndalsdalen!
