Christmas opening in Sogndal Skisenter!

Christmas celebrations and a kind of seasonal opening.

Dear guests, cottagers and friends of Hodlekve!

Then it's Christmas, and I finally get to open parts of our facility.

The snow has been a long time coming this year, and if we'd only had another 20 cm or so, we would have been able to open up a long time ago.

We know you're excited to get started with your ski season, and I can promise you that I am too, maybe more than anyone else!

Our first snow cannon! Thanks to Nesse Plast for all the help getting it in place

But now it's happening!

Now we're opening up a bit, and we also have various activities during Christmas.

Nesseplast, a little further out in the Sognefjord, has all the credit for the fact that now, on Christmas Day, we can open Toyota children's tractors in Rindabotn.

Trekket vert opens 10-16

They funded our very first snow cannon, the first year. Without them, we wouldn't have been able to get enough snow in the children's area for this! The snow produced by the cannon is much harder and more compact than natural snow, so the season is also longer, if necessary due to the snow production.

Many thanks to Nesseplast for their enormous and invaluable goodwill and good cooperation. They accomplish a lot for many with the financial help!

On Christmas Day 2, I'm also enthusiastically kicking off the Boligpartnert trek in Kalvavatni!

"There's still not enough snow for me to start the lower part of the facility. But there is enough snow around Kalvavatni and Boligpartnertrekket.

We call it enthusiast jumping because you have to make your own way up to the boarding area for the Boligpartner train.

There isn't much parking up in the cabin area, and the roads are narrow, so everyone who comes here needs to think a little sensibly to avoid traffic problems. The best thing to do is to use the parking lot in Rindabotn, put your skis on your shoulders and walk up the road. It's a nice warm-up in itself.

We understand that this can be a challenge for children, so we want to prioritize car driving with loading/unloading of ski equipment for those who have children who want to go up Kalvavatni.

The attraction is open from 10-16

Cross-country ski trails:

The cross-country ski trails are "sparsely groomed", we don't have the ultimate conditions in the trails yet, we would like to have a little more snow there too. But you can get some nice tours and laps if you want, many are already underway.

The cross-country track was prepped on December 23. Solid good conditions today Christmas Eve. Slightly uneven with snow, some patches in some places. We are grooming again on Christmas Day. Almost 5 km. is prepped. But stay tuned - it doesn't take much new snow to make big changes. We inform as much as we can, and something happens.

prepped this year, december 23rd. good solid conditions today, but a bit uneven with snow, bare spots in some places. will be prepped again on christmas day. almost 5 km prepped

Hiking trails in the mountains:

The snowmobile route to Høgehaug has been prepared. People report good conditions, but we want a little more snow before we prepare through the forest with a tractor. But there's more than enough snow for a great ski trip this Christmas. Have a good trip and let us know where you go!

Parking:

We remind you that annual parking passes do not follow the calendar year, but from the date you physically purchase it. Buy parking via easypark's app. Simple and ingenious. The same applies to charging for electric cars. Buy charging time via the app (max 2 hours per car).

For the sake of capacity and safety, we do not want you to drive up to the top of the cabin field when Kalvavatni opens. Park in Rindabotn in the parking lots and use your feet up, it takes 10-15 minutes to walk up, a good warm-up for wonderful turns in good snow

Covid-19

Sogndal Skisenter complies with current regulations and we have prepared and implemented measures to limit the spread of infection so that you as a guest are as safe as possible:

  • If you are not in the same household, you should only drive one by one on the T-hooks.

  • One and two meter distances also apply on the slopes, as well as queues, in the parking lot and indoors. We have signs that say one ski pole distance. These signs have been prepared by ALF (Alpinforbundets Landsforening).

  • We have set up disinfection stations in several locations

  • There is a limited number of people who can be in Dalalåven at the same time, please follow the message and advice from employees in the ski center and Dalalåven.

  • Buy lift passes online on our website to avoid physical contact and collection points.

Dalalåven is now open for the season. With a new and exciting menu, today's dishes you can enjoy yourself in expanded premises. We recommend following Dalalåven on Facebook for the latest menu of the day.

On December 27, there will be stick and rib training with Birgit Weel Skram, at Dalalåven.

Join this fresh-faced lady for some social fun fitness.

On December 29,there will be a Christmas buck race in the Toyota train.

A fun sledding competition for children of all ages.

On December 31, you can join us on the last hike of the year!

We run a torchlight procession in a group down the hill. (If Rindabotn is not open, we make a torchlight procession in the cottage village in an alternative way)

So we wish we had more snow, but we make the best of what we have. And it looks like it's finally coming this Christmas. We're in place and ready, and hope you'll take a trip either on the slopes, Dalalåven or on the cross-country track.

With best wishes for a happy and peaceful Christmas to you and yours.

Well met

Sogndal Ski Center Operations.

We're almost ready for these afternoons.

We long for days like these! Now they are coming.
