NF Basic course Avalanche Sogndal 6-8 March

This course is based on the Norwegian Mountain Sports Forum's course template for Basic Course Avalanche in Alpine Skiing. The course covers everything from avalanche hazard assessment, trip planning, route selection, driving patterns and buddy rescue using transmitter/receiver equipment. It goes into more depth on route selection and snow cover survey than our two-day avalanche course. This course also replaces the previous “NF method course avalanche” that existed before the new avalanche ladder and provided additional competence in NF's instructor training.

The instructor is summit guide Gjert Grødal. On avalanche courses we only use internationally qualified summit guides (UIAGM/IFMGA), summit guides under qualification/aspirants and NF approved avalanche course instructors who can demonstrate solid experience over several years in demanding ski, climbing and glacier tours.
