Has prepared delicatessen pigs for Dalalåven

You won't believe it until you taste it!

Now Dalalåven will offer dishes you've never dreamed of in your wildest food fantasies. 




Here you will get to taste plum pig and pear pig reared on a mountain farm in Sogndalsdalen.

Dalalåven will focus on local dishes, so that on occasion it will be possible to be served dinner dishes of the very highest class, with pork on the menu.

First up is our own Pulled Pork Burger. It's now on the menu and has already become a big favorite among many. Curious? Just come by and give it a try.




Lots of love

This is exactly where the pear and plum pigs come in. During the previous summer, a small herd of pigs has been reared freely on a large pen in the Sogndalsdalen valley, with fresh valley air, lots of love and plums and pears. It's the pears and plums that are the big attraction, and they'll take the meat to culinary heights. 

The pig's characteristic is that it absorbs the flavor of the meat; what you feed it, you get to taste. Just ask the man further out in the fjord who fed his pigs with fish just before slaughter. He never did that again.

Strong pig team

Farmer Hilde Hofslundsengen Valland has taken on the responsibility of rearing the pigs for Dalalåven. The pigs have been free to roam within a large, fenced-in area high above Lauvhaug in the part of Sogndalsdalen known locally as Middalen.

Magne Hofslundsengen, Yngve Hallèn and Reidar Dvergedal, all central to the development of Dalalåven, have each contributed to the project in their own way. The former was responsible for the menu in the last four weeks before slaughter, Hallèn with his food knowledge from his time as a student at Bergen-Nordhordland Rutelag, and Dvergedal with his experience from growing up in Ølnes, where most of the farms had their own pigs to feed.

The pears and plums on which the pigs are fed are grown at Leikanger and served at the perfect degree of ripeness.
