Thank you for the winter 22/23
Then it was over for this season. On Monday, May 1, at 16:00, we pressed the hard stop buttons in our lift houses and ended the winter of 2022/23.
It's time to thank all our guests for a great winter season! Thank you to all of them! It's a real pleasure to provide facilities for smiling, fit and enthusiastic guests of all ages.
We will continue to do our very best to ensure that you enjoy your time with us, regardless of your skill level.
And thank you to all the volunteers, thank you to a generous business community in Sogndal that supports our activities and wants to help create joy and well-being for us!
This winter season we passed 100,000 (one hundred thousand!) guests by a good margin. At least for those of us who run the ski center, these are impressive numbers. But first and foremost, they are inspiring; they tell us that we have become the meeting place we want to be, and they inspire us enormously to continue our efforts.
In the winter of 2022/23, more than 3,000 schoolchildren visited our facility during the school year, we held a number of competitions under the auspices of sports, many corporate gatherings and a record number of foreign guests. We've had several events that have been adapted for the disabled, we've organized ski school, and we've had activities adapted for children at weekends.
In week 8, we set a new record for visitor numbers in connection with the Mountain Sports Festival, and Easter 2023 was our best Easter ever, thanks to brilliant weather and eager guests.
We know that some people think we should have free parking, that we should have cheaper lift passes, that we should have stopped asking for contributions to prepping cross-country and mountain trails, and that it should have been free to eat your lunch in Dalalåven. Then the answer is simple: We couldn't have the offer we have today.
The operation of all these activities is funded by you as a user and a generous business community in Sogndal. We use this income to develop our activities and create new jobs. In addition, there is an enormous volunteer effort from a number of groups and enthusiasts.
The public sector does not finance any of our operations, neither the preparation and plowing of parking lots, nor the operation of shelters, hot tubs and Dalalåven. Nor is the prepping and operation of cross-country, mountain and alpine trails subsidized or supported by the public sector. It is our guests and sponsors in the business community that enable us to operate our facility and develop it further. Thank you to all of them!
Many thanks to everyone for this effort! And thank you for the brilliant winter season 2022/23!
We are now closing Dalalåven for a few weeks to get ready for summer operations.
